A house on Bangor's north side was damaged badly by fire Tuesday night after flames erupted at the rear of the building and spread, according to police radio reports.
The fire was reported at 9:50 p.m. at 713 Third Ave., a two-story home near the Bangor border with Roseto. One person was reported inside when the fire started, but no injuries were reported.
The Bangor Fire Department and several neighboring fire companies sent firefighting crews to the scene, where they battled flames on the second floor. At 10:40 p.m., firefighters still were reporting smoke in the attic.
The American Red Cross was asked to provide temporary lodging for two displaced adults, two children and two dogs.
