In the late afternoon on April 3rd, 2019, the Bangor Fire Department was dispatched to assist Washington Township Fire Company & multiple other local fire departments with an outbuilding/brush fire. The fire destroyed the outbuilding and the wooded area near 350 Franklin Hill Road.
It is unclear at this time whether the fire started in the brush & spread to the out building or started at the out structure & spread to the brush.
Parts of the county were under red flag warning that day and high winds helped the fire move quickly up a wooded slope toward Thoroughbred Court. It was estimated that over local firefighters were on scene battling the blaze.
The fire was eventually brought under control with no injuries and only the loss of one outbuilding.
This time of year brings winds a low humidity which will dry out any debris and brush increasing the chance of wildfire. Please check with local municipalities for any burn bans that may be in effect before starting any fires.
