At approximately 12:40pm on Friday September 15th, 2023, the call came in for a High Occupancy Structure Fire at 24 Broadway in Bangor.
Flames could be seen from the rear of the building as black smoke filled the sky. The Bangor Fire Department along with Roseto, Washington Township, East Bangor, Lookout, Portland, Wind Gap & Plainfiel
At approximately 12:40pm on Friday September 15th, 2023, the call came in for a High Occupancy Structure Fire at 24 Broadway in Bangor.
Flames could be seen from the rear of the building as black smoke filled the sky. The Bangor Fire Department along with Roseto, Washington Township, East Bangor, Lookout, Portland, Wind Gap & Plainfield were dispatched. Crews were on scene until approximately 10:00pm that evening.
At approximately 2:00am on Saturday the call came in for a rekindling of the building. Police on scene could see smoke was coming from the roof.
The Bangor Fire Department along with the departments that were on scene earlier were re-dispatched out.
The assisting fire department were released at approximately 4:30am.
The Bangor Fire Department remained on scene through out the rest of the day for fire watch.
24 Broadway which was known for the 5 & 10 store back in the day, now housed four apartments above and three stores below. The building unfortunately is a complete loss. All residents made it out of the building unharmed.
The Hub or The Stran Movie Theater which it was known for back in the day, had minor smoke & water damage.
